If you’ve been following my social media, you may have noticed me sharing posts about an incredible project called Luchadores vs. Everything — “the most unique book on the lucha libre film genre ever written.”
The book is spearheaded by film activist and historian Viviana García Besné, a proud member of the famed Calderón and García Besné cinematic families. Together with her colleagues, she dives deep into the history of her family’s legendary films — classics like Santo y Blue Demon Contra El Dr. Frankenstein and La Maldición de la Momia Azteca, to name just a couple.
This past summer at SDCC, Masked Republic and Headlocked Comics gave fans an exclusive first look at what this book will include — and I couldn’t be more thrilled to finally share my news:
I will have a piece featured in this historic book.
Words honestly can’t capture how honored I feel to be part of such an important cultural project, one that celebrates not only the films but the legacy and art of lucha libre itself.
A huge thank you to Kevin Kleinrock, Masked Republic, Viviana García Besné, and everyone involved for letting me contribute to something this meaningful.
And the journey isn’t over—there will be a Kickstarter campaign launching soon to bring this vision to life. I’ll be sharing more details as we get closer, so stay tuned.
This is more than a book—it’s a piece of history, and I’m beyond excited to be part of it.
